Schools

Over the years there have been anywhere between 5 and 10 schools involved with Gluais. The schools come from all around the Lucan, Clondalkin and Leixlip areas. These schools have been involved with Gluais for many years and without the Co-Operation of the teachers in the schools, Gluais could not be the success it has been to date. The teachers involved with Gluais assist the Gluais Group throughout the year and provide support to all of their activities.

Below are a list of the schools involved along with some information about each school.

Lucan Community College

Lucan Community College is situated in Esker, an area just south of Lucan village in County Dublin. The college first opened its doors in 1987, but has a much longer history, as it was built to replace Lucan Vocational School on Esker Hill, which had served the surrounding area since the early 1950s.

Colaiste Chilliain

Coláiste Chilliain is almost forty years on the road. It is a matter of deep pride that we continue building on the foundation of this strong heritage in promoting our core cultural and educational values. We cater for over 400 pupils and are in a growth phase.

We have shared this site for many years with Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin and we look forward to welcoming Gaelscoil na Camóige to our campus shortly in the future. We hope the new schools will be built by 2023, including the sport hall for Coláiste Chilliain. As well as pupils from the schools mentioned above we also have a long and proud association with Gaelscoil Inse Chór and Scoil Chrónáin and long may that continue. The future is bright but we can never be complacent about the Irish language and its future. It is our vision and our mission to enhance the Irish language in the area, in the country and to fulfil the school motto, ‘Ár nDúchas Slán’ (Our Heritage in Safe Hands).
